WABCO’s new plant opened at Mahindra World City

WABCO India, a technology leader and tier-one supplier to the global commercial vehicle industry, recently inaugurated its plant 2 at Mahindra World City in Chennai at an investment of over Rs. 50 crores. WABCO India already operates four world-class manufacturing sites located in India.

The plant will manufacture high-technology and innovative products for supply to commercial vehicle manufacturers in Germany, Japan, Poland, and the US, amongst other markets internationally.

The plant was formally inaugurated by Mr. Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Leon Liu, WABCO President, Asia.

The new 2,272-sq. metre facility will employ 160 people, including 30 engineers.

“Today’s inauguration of plant 2 at Mahindra World City marks another milestone in the successful expansion of WABCO’s global manufacturing network. Plant 2 is also an outstanding example of lean manufacturing, which further differentiates WABCO’s excellence in execution,” said Mr. Jacques Esculier. “This new world-class plant in India further enables WABCO to seize market opportunities in Asia and globally as we continue to leverage the well-anchored, leading market position of WABCO India.”
