At the event, 99 automotive component manufacturers were honoured with the prestigious ACMA Atmanirbhar Excellence Awards
Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), the apex body of the Indian automotive component industry, successfully hosted the seventh edition of the ACMA Atmanirbhar Excellence Awards and Technology Summit. This year’s theme ‘Driving Mobility through Technology, Digitisation and Sustainability’ was aimed at ACMA’s endeavour to facilitate the transition of the automotive component industry from a conventional one to the mobility industry. The summit recognised and felicitated ACMA members for excellence across various parameters such as exports, product innovation, manufacturing, human resources and environmental safety.
The summit was graced by dignitaries from the government and industry, including Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Dr. Pawan Goenka, SCALE Chairman Designate – In Space, Department of Space, Government of India and Kenichi Ayukawa, President, SIAM and Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India, among others.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Piyush Goyal said, “My heartiest congratulations to all the winners of the ACMA Atmanirbhar Excellence Awards. These are one of the most coveted awards in the automotive sector that help the industry to benchmark its work and achieve excellence. The government is ready to partner with the industry, addressing their needs to achieve game-changing results. As an industry, we should also focus on research and development and move from traditional technologies to new technologies. It is important for companies to evolve and embrace cutting-edge technologies like e-mobility to remain relevant.”
Sharing his opinion, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey said, “The government is keen to support the automotive industry and FAME 2 and PLI schemes are some of the necessary steps in this direction. The government is keen to incentivize investments in advanced technologies to create a robust ecosystem to address the future mobility goals of India and welcomes the joint ACMA-SIAM roadmap on localisation to reduce dependence on imports.” The ACMA Technology Summit successfully brought together experts and industry leaders to deliberate and collaborate on building a self-reliant automotive value chain through advanced technologies.
The summit witnessed incisive sessions by experts on future mobility, next-generation mobility solutions and new-age manufacturing technologies to stay ahead of the curve. Commenting on the industry transformation, Sunjay Kapur, President, ACMA, said, “The Indian automotive component industry is at the cusp of change. Companies have already started adopting new-age technologies such as telematics, ADAS and automation, thus quickly transforming the industry. Whilst the industry has faced several headwinds, the support of our government with policies like the PLI scheme and FAME has enabled us to stay strong and remain globally competitive.” The summit also hosted panel discussions on certain themes such as driving mobility through technology, digitisation, sustainable business excellence and an exclusive leadership session.
