The three-day event focused on innovations and presented a platform for exchange of information and views from those in the industry.
The 9th edition of ALUCAST 2022, an international conference and exhibition on aluminium die-casting and allied technology was held at the Chennai Trade Centre, from December 1-3, 2022 with the theme of Green and Smart Die Casting Solutions for Sustainability’. Organised by the Aluminium Casters’ Association of India (ALUCAST) and produced by Nuernberg Messe India, the event was well supported by industry leaders including Sundaram Clayton Ltd., Jaya Hind Industries Private Ltd., Rockman Industries, Frech, Alubee Die Casters, Dimo Castings and several other leading players.
A technical conference spanning all three days witnessed the interesting presentations and deliberations presented by internationally recognised experts on the various aspects of die casting technology which are emerging and are likely to greatly influence the manner in which die cast parts are conceived, produced and used. Pertinent topics such as aluminium casting adoption for EVs, smart die casting solutions for sustainability and innovative product design were presented during the event.
The visitors were amazed to see the works of die-castings, machines, accessories, dies, materials and services of more than 175+ brands from eight countries congregate at India’s premier exhibition for the aluminium die casting industry after four years. The Sustainability Pavilion at the event attracted many and it was drawn on the expertise of Tata Motors and Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials to bring forth latest trends and developments.
At the inaugural session, Kirti Ramdasi, Secretary, ALUCAST, welcomed the attendees and introduced the key speakers. In his special address, Prasan Firodia, President, ALUCAST, Managing Director, Force Motors Ltd. and Jaya Hind Industries Private Ltd., was upbeat about the success of ALUCAST 2022 driven by technology which offers immense opportunities for the automotive industry players to explore emerging trends like electric vehicles, digitisation, automation, innovations in the assembly line, enhancement of the supply chain model, etc. The die-casting industry has undergone a sea change.
“The automotive industry in India is going through major modernisation, adopting latest technology of complex designs and alternate solutions for reduction in carbon emission and vehicle weight and moving towards electric vehicles”, stated Firodia.
Dr. Lakshmi Venu, Managing Director, Sundaram Clayton Ltd., who was the chief guest on the occasion, said: “We are coming out leaner and stronger after lot of challenges faced due to various factors including the global pandemic. It has been very well reflected with the performance of vehicle sales in the country during the recent times. Also, there is a major talk going on about the change in technology everywhere including the automotive sector and the Indian die casting industry will play a very prominent role in meeting the changes.”
Michaela Küchler, Consul General of Germany, Ravi Verma, Assistant Director – Projects, Abhinav Bhardwaj, Assistant Manager – Projects, and trustees including Pradap Pawar, Bharat Agarwal, Trustee, ALUCAST and President, Vishwakarma Group of Institutes and Managing Director, Aakar Foundry P Ltd., N Prabakaran, Chairperson – ALUCAST Chennai Zonal Centre and Managing Director, Dietech India, and Veena Upadhye, ALUCAST Executive, gave their reviews at the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural function also witnessed the presentation of awards for various categories and the Best Foundry Award for large-scale category has been jointly received by Sundaram Clayton Ltd. and Jaya Hind Industries.
Valedictory Session
G Praburam, Chairman, Technical Committee of ALUCAST 2022, and Managing Partner, Alubee Die Casters, in his welcome address at the Valedictory Session gave an overview about the success of the three-day event and thanked the entire team members for their excellent contribution and support. N Prabakaran, Chairperson – ALUCAST Chennai Zonal Centre and Managing Director, Dietech India, said the Chennai Chapter was very proud to host the ALUCAST in Chennai after four years with full responsibility.
Vivek Joshi, President and CEO, Sundaram Clayton Ltd., who was the chief guest at the valedictory function of ALUCAST 2022, pointed out that it was a grand successful event truly covering all the relevant subjects related to die casting industry. India is gearing up to become the leading casting producer and deliver import substitution products of high class.
