Anadolu Isuzu’s ecofriendly midibus: Isuzu Novociti Volt
Isuzu Novociti Volt, designed as an all-electric midibus for a world where emission rules are getting increasingly stricter, made its mark on Busworld Brussels with two versions with different ranges and passenger capacities.
Novociti Volt, the electric version of the multiple award-winning diesel Novociti Life, which was launched in 2018, is an ecofriendly midibus with an all-electric drive system with minimal noise and zero emission. Thanks to AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems), Novociti Volt generates an artificial engine sound for pedestrian safety without causing noise pollution and enables pedestrians to notice the vehicle, thus preventing risky situations.
The batteries positioned on top of Novociti Volt, with a battery capacity of 200 kWh, enable a range of up to 270 km. With the battery packs placed on the roof, the vehicle can be easily customized to increase or decrease the range. The electric motor, located in the rear of the vehicle, comes with 240 kW engine power and 2300 Nm torque. As part of the warranty, battery life is guaranteed, will not decrease below 70% for 5 years or 250,000 km. The vehicle can be charged from a single charging socket ad AC (22 kW) or DC (140 kW). In addition to quick charging (DC) capabilities in only two hours with 600 V operating voltage, the batteries can also be charged via a home charge (AC) in eight hours. Novociti Volt’s quick charge system enables a range of up to 50 km in just 10 minutes. Provided that it is used only once a day, this extra quick 10-minute charge does not affect battery life adversely. Novociti Volt has three solar panels on its roof. These solar panels support low-voltage (24 V) equipments and so helps to enhance the vehicle’s range. Novociti Volt is equipped with “Aconnect” telematics system, which analyzes vehicle data such as vehicle speed, battery level, energy consumption, throttle and brake pedal position, etc., and generates solutions to improve efficiency of fleets and companies. The system also reports driver errors with images to determine the driver’s score, eventually combining all analyses to form the driver’s report. This helps operators take measures to reduce operating costs.
Another electric vehicle showcased at the Anadolu Isuzu booth is Citivolt 12. With a length of 12 meters and a battery-electric (BEV) drive system, Citivolt 12 can accommodate up to 90 people, with 30 seated and 60 standing passengers. Citivolt’s low-floor monocoque body and kneeling system offer priority passengers and those with disabilities to have easy access to the vehicle. Lithium-ion batteries with 351-kWh capacity ensure a range of up to 300 km. The Siemens electric motor at the rear of the vehicle comes with 230 kW peak engine power and 3000 Nm peak torque. As part of the warranty, battery life is guaranteed not to fall below 70% for eight years or 400,000 km. With a liquid cooling system for the battery pack, the vehicle operates easily in all weather conditions. The battery can be charged using a DC charger to maximum 120 kW. Citivolt 12 also features 600 V operating voltage for quick charge in only four hours. With the regenerative braking system, energy released during braking and acceleration can be recovered by 30% on average.
Interliner 13 CNG, with an integrated Cummins engine, is another vehicle that stands out at the Anadolu Isuzu booth. Being the first bus that Anadolu Isuzu will launch in 12 and longer meter intercity segment, Interliner 13 CNG is developed particularly to meet the demand for shuttle vehicles, school buses and short distance intercity transportation in the European market. Interliner 13 CNG, which is categorized as Class 2 due to the fact that it features a standing passenger and wheelchair area in the middle, comes to the forefront with features such as low emission levels thanks to CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engine, quiet driving and more efficient fuel consumption. Interliner 13 CNG’s five units of Type-3 CNG gas tanks have a total volume of 1520 liters.
Interliner 13 CNG, fitted with a 6-cylinder Cummins engine, generates 320 hp and 1356 Nm torque. There are two service doors in the vehicle, one in the front and the other in the middle section. The middle door is designed with two wings and to open outward, providing ample space for boarding and exiting the vehicle. The two-wing door system also enables the vehicle to be fitted with a wheelchair lift (option). A luggage capacity of the vehicle is 7.3 m3 with a lift and 7.6 m3 without a lift.
The first cabrio vehicle in the midibus segment: Isuzu Novo Cabrio
Novo Cabrio that will be exhibited at the Anadolu Isuzu booth will certainly be one of the most interesting vehicles that Busworld Brussels visitors will see. The Cabrio model, developed by Turancar CZ s.r.o., the distributor of Anadolu Isuzu in the Czech Republic, to meet local customer demand, is a version of Isuzu Novo, with the top and side windows removed to make it suitable for city hop-on/hop-off (sightseeing) transportation. Isuzu Novo Cabrio that will be showcased at the Anadolu Isuzu booth, is developed for all cities with high tourism potential, particularly Prague, and will continue to be featured at various exhibitions in the upcoming period.
