Anand Pistons is a leading producer of pistons with close to 95 per cent of its sales coming from the export market at present. The company is a preferred piston supplier for many OEMs across segments, including Indian Military (Defence), VE Commercial Vehicles (for airbrake compressors) and Peugeot (as a Tier-II supplier).
Having been an out-and-out export focused outfit thus far, Anand Pistons has begun stepping up its presence in the domestic market. The company participated in the recently-held ACMA Automechanika fair in New Delhi and received good response from visitors at the show.
Says Mr. Jaswin Singh Anand, Joint Managing Director, Anand Pistons: “We have been in this field for the past 36 years, and while we have focused more on exports all these years, we have started producing for the local market, starting with products for three-wheelers. We are promoting our own piston kit for the Piaggio Apé. Another major breakthrough for us is the recent order bagged for Defence applications, possible only due to our patience and focus on quality.”
Anand Pistons has its production facility in Agra with a workforce of 140. The facility is equipped with the country’s only pair of Takisawa TPS 5000 CNC piston machine and manufactures close to 35,000 pistons per month. With expanding capacities and healthy orders in hand, the piston-maker plans to double its current volumes and cut down the lead time for its products from 90 days to 60 days.
Anand Pistons has been supplying its products across the country from New Delhi and plans to expand its distribution network in the coming years. Driven by its overall expansion plans and with markets looking up, the company is expecting good growth in the current fiscal. “Increasing our distributor count will be one of our main focus areas for this financial year. We made a turnover of Rs. 20 crores in FY17 and are growing at a rate of 7-8% every year which we will try to maintain”, adds Mr. Anand.
