Apollo Tyres, leading Indian tyre maker, has won the National Intellectual Property Award for the year 2020 in the category of ‘Top Indian Company/Organisation for Designs and Commercialisation’. In a recently held virtual award ceremony, jointly organised by the Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Minister for Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Piyush Goyal conferred Onkar Kanwar, Chairman, Apollo Tyres Ltd with this prestigious award.
National IP awards are conferred by the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Ministry of Commerce and Industry to outstanding innovators, organisations and companies in the fields of patents, designs, trademarks and geographical indications. Apollo Tyres received this award on the basis of the company’s intellectual property (IP) registrations, both in terms of quality and quantity. The company has filed for 75 design registrations cumulatively for India and abroad in the 2017 – 2019 period with the IP office in India for design portfolio.
