Arabian Petroleum aiming for robust growth

Founded in 2006, Arabian Petroleum Ltd., has become a known to reckon in the last 11 years. It not only provides specialised industrial offerings but also a wide range of Lubricants, Oils, and Greases for the automotive industry. The company is dedicated to consistently providing products that deliver stellar quality and comply with statutory requirements in the Automotive and Industrial Lubricants domain. Due to the effective application of systems they have rapidly being acknowledged in the industry, APL has been able to set a high benchmark in the industry under its two distinctive product divisions; Arzol – (Premium Quality Automotive Lubricants) & SPL – (Industrial Lubricants).

Shift towards BS VI

There has been an intense shift in the industry towards research and development of HVI type of oils with low SAPS for new generation vehicles which are going to run with fuels meeting BSVI norms. Arabian Petroleum Ltd. (APL) has already launched products with base oils containing very low Sulfur content and high saturation levels coupled with additive chemistry which imparts low SAPS in our formulation. “We are in constant development to offer increase in drain intervals maintaining the same viscosity standards and giving something better with regards to competition. I see increase in usage of Group 3 and Synthetic base stocks for formulating engine oils as well as greases going forward toward the BS VI shift,” Mr. Manan Mehta, Director Arabian Petroleum Ltd.

Innovation in products

APL has been successful in adopting newer technologies faster and reduced the time to market for their products. “We’ve had a recent Technological Collaboration with XADO India, the Indian Arm of XADO Chemical Group Ukraine to launch products suitable to the Indian Market with XADO’s Patented Nanotechnology. With the XADO’s Revitalizant additives coupled up with APL experience in the Indian market, we have launched 2 series of products viz. Probuz and Reverto for the Indian Market. APL has the exclusive rights to blend products with XADO technology in India. With Reverto series of products we are targeting the older generation vehicles, where we have tested and proven that it restores the power of older engines and revitalizes the same. It’s a unique technology and we are sure that the Indian market with a lot of older generation vehicles, our product shall be the best fit for them, revealed Mr. Mehta.

Long Drain Life Vs Initial Sales

Explaining APL’s take on long drain life versus the initial sales, Mr. Mehta added, “There has been a lot of talk about this but what I see is that the penetration of vehicles in India is too low. It is as low as 19 passenger vehicles per 1000 people as compared to China’s 72 and USA ‘s 360. There is tremendous opportunity for growth and hence all the Automakers are having eyes on one of the biggest markets of the world i.e. India. This also has a direct correlation in the increase in the lubricant demand which we are going to see at least in the next 10 years.”

80 per cent of APLs current business comes from the industrial lubricants, however the company is growing faster in the automotive lubricant space. “We are growing faster in the automotive lubricant space with our brand Arzol and we target that 50 per cent of our business should come from automotive segment. Out of this our focus areas are Commercial Vehicles and Motorcycle Oils,” affirmed Mehta.

With state of the art manufacturing plant located at Ambernath, the plant has utilized 70 per cent of its capacities. “We look for capacity expansion by 2020 as focusing on exports  has helped us develop our presence in more than 12 countries,” informed Mr. Mehta.

PAN India presence

APL has over 50 distributors for automotive products and over 3000 direct industrial customers. “To serve this we have around over 45 front line sales person from both Industrial & Automotive division, supported by a well-qualified technical service team for after sales service. We are offering variety of industrial product like range of synthetic compressor oil, PAO based gear oils. We promote a range of product in automotive segment like Milage Synactiv, Xtra life Grease & Kool on coolant which has long life 80,000 Kms. Recently, with technical collaboration with XADO India ltd (subsidiary of XADO Chemicals, Ukrain) we have launched two engine oils, these products are kind of first time in India, concluded, Mr. Mehta.
