Ashok Leyland has bagged orders from IRT (Institute of Road Transport, Chennai), UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation) and CTU (Chandigarh Transport Undertaking) for a total of 2,580 buses. These orders are among the largest from STUs for a single OEM, with the buses to be delivered before March 2019.
Speaking about the orders, Mr. Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said: “We are very happy to receive the confirmation of these orders from State Transport Undertakings. Delhi Government tender for procurement of 1,000 buses
The Delhi Government has released a tender for procurement of 1,000 low-floor CNG-propelled air-conditioned buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC).
This is one of the major bus procurements by the Delhi Government to improve the bus transport infrastructure in the city. Under this bidding round, there are five clusters – 10A+14B (250 buses), 12A+17A (190 buses), 10B (175 buses), 14C (175 buses) and 11A+17B (210 buses).
Currently, nine clusters (1,500 buses) are running in Delhi and four clusters (1,000 buses) are in the implementation phase. After the introduction of 1,000 more buses under the cluster scheme, Delhi will have more than 7,000 buses.
