Auto Expo 2020 – Components kick-starts with spotlight on Technology and Innovation

The first Auto Expo of the new decade and the 15th edition of the country’s largest and most-awaited auto show, Auto Expo 2020 – Components, kicked off in grand style on February 6. The show was inaugurated by Arun Goyal, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, in the presence of senior members from the three organizing bodies ACMA, CII and SIAM, auto component & auto industry captains, international delegations and a number of other distinguished guests.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Arun Goyal said: “It’s a pleasure to be here and witness the success of this platform, jointly organized by ACMA, SIAM and CII. The technological leap achieved by the auto industry will be critical to usher in the next phase of growth. It is imperative to strengthen the industry-academia partnership to bring more innovation and cutting-edge technology for the Indian industries.”

Sharing his thoughts, Deepak Jain, ACMA President said: “The auto component industry has shown strong resilience amidst the prevailing challenges. This expo’s theme, ‘Technovation – Discover Innovations for Future’, reflects our determination to steer the industry forward with greater value-addition, instil a positive sentiment and showcase the technological prowess, while providing more opportunities for growth.”

Appreciating the efforts of the Indian auto component industry, Rajan Wadhera, SIAM President, said: “The Indian auto component industry has always put its best foot forward. It is said ‘when the going gets tough, the tough gets going’. So, this is the time to set our sights on the next 10 years where indigenous technologies and manufacturing capabilities of the component industry will come as a top priority for all of us. It is time to focus on R&D so that we can have products not just for India but for the world market.”

Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, shared: “The growth of the Auto Expo mirrors the rapid growth of the Indian automobile industry and its integration with the global automotive industry. Over the years Auto Expo has become India’s premiere event to showcase India’s prowess in manufacturing, technology and innovation.”

The show has over 1,500 companies exhibiting their latest products and solutions, of which 200 are international exhibitors from over 20 countries. Around 1,00,000+ business visitors are expected to attend the four-day event which has dedicated pavilions for countries like Japan, South Korea, UK, Germany, Turkey and Canada.

Visitors can witness latest advancements in technology pertaining to BS-VI, safety, and e-mobility among various others. With export promotion and forging international relationships being a key focus area of the current expo, ACMA is also hosting an IPO Forum which will bring together International Purchase Offices (IPOs) of various multinational OEMs. The fair also has theme-based pavilions for EVs, Start-ups and Innovation in which several companies are displaying their prowess in specific segments.
