AVL has opened a new, state-of-the-art technical center in Kawasaki in Japan, designed to cut development time and costs. The new facility will deliver engineering services for powertrain R&D, including hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
The center houses a team of 60 experts specialized in design, simulation, development and calibration and is equipped with advanced measuring and simulation tools, including one powertrain testbed and two engine test systems. Further equipment such as chassis dynamometers will be installed in the later stages of completion.
OEMs will also be able to test engines with original exhaust gas systems as well as powertrains, and run virtual tests in the most advanced environments.
Engineering services available include performance and emission calibration, onboard diagnosis system calibration, driveability calibration as well as benchmarking and model-based development for all types of powertrains, including hybrid and electric powertrains.
