In an esteemed difficult year, especially for the automobile industry, Bajaj Auto Ltd. recorded in FY15 its highest-ever turnover of Rs. 22,194 crores. Exports of 1.81 million units worth Rs. 9,758 crores ($1.52 billion) represented a growth of 14 per cent.
With commercial vehicle sales of 519,000 units worldwide during the year, the company continued to be the largest three-wheeler manufacturer. It dominated the domestic market with a share of 44 per cent. The growth in sales volume of 25 per cent in the domestic market is more than the double the industry growth rate of 11 per cent.
The company also dominated the domestic market for the petrol and alternate fuel passenger segment with a market share of 88 per cent. Its share in the large diesel three-wheeler passenger carriers improved by 200 basis points to 18 per cent. It also maintained its dominance in the domestic market for small diesel three-wheeler passenger carriers with a substantial share of 61 per cent.
