Bakshi Transport’s award-winning performance

Bakshi Transport Service Pvt. Ltd., which has been making steady progress over the decades, had its humble beginning in 1959 when Mr. G.S. Sawhney, now its Managing Director, started it in the name of Khalsa Transport Company, with just one bus covering a single route in Delhi. Very soon he could increase the number of buses to four with the company focus on tourist transport business. This shift in business involved tourist trade activities like local sight seeing tours, marriage party trips and excursion trips for schools and colleges. The company also got its name changed to Bakshi Transport Service.

Another turning point in the company career came when the Managing Director’s son Mr. K.S. Sawhney, joined the business in 1982 with full enthusiasm and energy to make a positive impact on the tourism industry by handling foreign tourists arranging big conferences with the company fleet of luxury vehicles, coaches and big size cars. Today both the father and the son are considered pioneers in the tourist transport industry, specializing in foreign tourism, group tours, conferences by providing bulk buses to educational institutions, etc.

The company has till date received the National Tourism Award for 11 times, for six years consecutively from 2002-03 onwards. It has been given a Special Scroll of Honour Award by the Ministry of Tourism in 2010. It has also received a special award for the promotion of Campaign Clean India for 2011-12.

As part of its Campaign Clean project, the company had printed three lakh small posters to be pasted on all the coaches and cars run by the company. These phamphlet carried messages against spitting and throwing garbage on roads, washing vehicles on road sides, etc. The campaign was very well appreciated by both private and Government agencies.
