Establishes market leader footprint and sets another record in the Indian subcontinent
Battery Smart, India’s largest and fastest-growing battery swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers, has announced it has achieved a new milestone by surpassing 1 lakh daily swaps on its network of over 50,000 drivers. This accomplishment marks another step forward in Battery Smart’s mission to make electric mobility accessible and affordable for all while contributing to India’s net zero emissions goal by 2070.
Since its inception with the launch of the first swap station in Janakpuri, New Delhi, in June 2020, Battery Smart has rapidly expanded its network. With 1,100 stations now spread across 30+ cities in India, the company has emerged as the leading player in the battery swapping sector, surpassing 40 million cumulative swaps to date.
The Battery Smart team shared their enthusiasm about the new achievement: “Surpassing 1 lakh daily swaps is a clear indication of the trust our customers place in us and the reliability of our network. This milestone demonstrates the increasing acceptance of battery swapping as a viable and efficient solution for faster and more economical EV adoption. It also reaffirms our commitment to building a dense network of swap stations, ensuring EV users are within a 1 km radius of a station, with zero wait time. We are grateful for the continued support from the government and our partners, which has been instrumental in our growth.”
Battery Smart’s battery-as-a-service solution enables two-minute battery swaps, allowing EV drivers to save time, cover greater distances, and reduce their upfront costs by up to 40%. The company’s asset-light approach leverages existing infrastructure from Indian SMBs to rapidly set up swap stations, thereby improving the livelihoods of local business owners and creating a robust support system for the growing EV market.
