Indo-MIM accords top priority to worker safety. Safety practises followed by the company have their focus on zero accident, and the employees are motivated and driven by the safety events held at regular intervals.
The Karnataka State Safety Institute in Bangalore conducts a State-level Best Safety Worker competition every year for all the manufacturing industries in different sectors. This year’s competition was held in February in which Indo-MIM participated and was well rewarded.
Selection of the company safety worker began in the first week of January. He was none other than Mr. Ramprasad. K, a Senior Technician – Maintenance Department, for the past 13 years. He is extremely committed towards safety and implemented numerous safe working practices at the company during 2011. His significant contributions are in the field of process, equipment and employee safety. He has shown keen interest and initiative in learning and implementing the 5S, 3M, Kaizen, cost reduction, productivity, and automation, besides safety. He has also been instrumental in implementing the hydraulic and pneumatic concepts at the floor level.
Mr. Ramprasad has presented various Kaizens regarding safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction. He not only adheres to work procedures and safety health and environment (SHE) guidelines, but also has been an excellent leader in guiding others to follow the same effectively.
Mr. Ramprasad was selected as the Best Safety Worker in the medium-scale industry by the Institute this year. The prize was presented by Mr. B.N. Bache Gowda, the Karnataka Minister for Labour & Sericulture, at a function held on the 41st National Safety Day on March 4.
