In light of the nationwide lockdown, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has announced a two-month extension for warranties and extended warranty repairs. BharatBenz vehicles with warranty or extended warranty contracts ending between March 15, 2020 and May 15, 2020, or having their next service schedule during this period, now have an extra two months’ leeway. This will also be of great benefit to customers with vehicles lying idle during the lockdown.
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “Even during the lockdown, some of our BharatBenz customers are transporting essential commodities in order to support the community. To support them in turn, we decided to extend both service and warranty repairs by two months.”
In an additional move to support BharatBenz customers, DICV has tied up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to support stranded drivers. Drivers who are on the road away from home can dial the 24 x 7, toll-free number (1800-120-380380) and request basic support. BharatBenz collects information on the driver’s requirements, which include secured parking, water, fuel, bathing and shelter. This information is then passed on to the nearest HPCL team, who contacts the driver and offers the required support.
“BharatBenz has always been at the forefront when it comes to supporting customers, especially in times when they require it the most. We were one of the first to extend the service and warranty repairs period to answer customer needs during this crisis. We are proud to tie up with HPCL to support our truck driver fraternity who may be away from their home location by providing support for their immediate basic requirements,” said Rajaram Krishnamurthy, Vice President (Marketing and Sales), Daimler India Commercial Vehicles.
BharatBenz truck sales cross 100,000 mark
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), Daimler’s commercial vehicle subsidiary in India, achieved yet another major milestone during the first quarter of 2020. Within eight years of the start of production in 2012, the company has sold more than 100,000 medium and heavy-duty trucks in India, marking an unprecedented ramp-up in the world’s toughest commercial vehicle market. Rajaram Krishnamurthy, Vice President (Marketing and Sales), DICV, said, “BharatBenz trucks are specifically designed for India. Reaching 100,000 truck sales so soon shows how much Indian customers appreciate Daimler’s quality and value. We are very proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to many more.”
Additionally, Daimler Buses has sold more than 4,500 BharatBenz buses in India since the start of operations in 2015. DICV recently also celebrated important export milestones. Since 2012, DICV has exported more than 30,000 vehicles under the brands BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and FUSO to more than 50 markets around the globe. Moreover, the company has exported 130 million parts to other plants within the production network of Daimler Trucks since 2014. “DICV is real proof of the ‘Make in India’ concept. We combine Daimler’s worldwide network and long history of engineering with India’s ingenuity and frugality. That’s how we have exported over 13 crore parts from India to all over the world,” said Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO, DICV.
