Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT), considered a market leader in the off-highway tyre segment, displayed its wide range of all-steel radial tyres at the event. The most promising among the products displayed were tyres from the company’s popular ‘Earthmax’ line.
Speaking exclusively to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Ashok P. Chhajer, General Manager – OE Sales, BKT, sounded extremely happy over the response received at the mega event. “The event has been organized very well. We are very much satisfied with the response,” he said.
Going into details about the products the company showcased, Mr. Chhajer said: “Globally there is a shift towards radialization, especially in the mining and heavy construction equipment sectors. So we have displayed our array of radial tyres here. We are also displaying India’s largest all-steel OTR tyre.”
The products displayed by the company included the ‘Earthmax SR 45’, which is considered an ideal tyre for rigid dumpers operating on a harsh terrain. It is specifically designed for rigid dumpers, and the tyre features the E4-class tread that reduces wear and provides extreme resistance against cuts and abrasion. It is also known for its extra-long product lifecycle.
The ‘Earthmax SR 46’ showcased by the company features an all-steel casing reinforced with steel belts to provide excellent protection against impacts, mechanical stress and punctures. Strength and resistance are also the characteristics of the ‘Earthmax SR 55’ on display. The ‘Earthmax Sr 31’, made from a special compound offering excellent protection against cuts and abrasion, has also been developed for rigid dumpers and loaders.
Apart from the Earthmax products, the XL Grip (L3) and the XL Grip (BHL) were also on display. While the former has been developed for loaders, the latter has been designed for backhoe loaders. The ‘Supergrader’ has been developed for graders and ‘EM 936’ for excavators and telehandlers in industrial applications.
Replying to a query on whether the company has any plans to expand production capacity, Mr. Chhajer said that, with the addition of the Bhuj plant, the peak production capacity will be 400 tons per day. “Today we are producing 250 tons per day. So, there is scope for further increasing the capacity in the future,” he explained.
Mr. Chhajer concluded saying that the company is confident of achieving double-digit growth in 2018. “We are witnessing fantastic growth in the construction industry. I am very confident that the growth rate will accelerate further.”
