As a global leader in clean and efficient technology solutions for all kinds of propulsion systems, BorgWarner is looking forward to the Indian auto industry’s transition to BS-VI this April and also the strong e-mobility drive in the country. Christopher J. Lanker, Vice President & General Manager, Emissions, Thermal and Turbo Systems, Asia Pacific, BorgWarner, tells us about his company’s presence at Auto Expo 2020 – Components and why BorgWarner sees a bright future ahead for its India biz.
Focus at Auto Expo 2020
As India’s automotive industry is currently in transition and experiences a huge shift from diesel to gasoline powered vehicles, we would like to showcase that we can make a significant contribution to the drive towards more environmentally friendly and modern mobility. We are focused on offering new and innovative solutions to help all vehicle manufacturers meet stringent emission standards, while still improving performance and fuel efficiency – by using our global experience.
Products and technologies to be showcased
We will be showcasing innovations for all propulsion areas: combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles. All our technologies support energy-efficient and low-emissions mobility. Some of our exhibition highlights include exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) solutions, variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers, our innovative Battery and Cabin Heater families as well as our battery packs.
Expectations from the show
We are looking forward to presenting our technologies on such a big and important platform as the Auto Expo Components. We expect this year’s event to be another very good one, especially as the economic future of India currently looks outstanding and India’s future mobility will be quite a challenge.
BS-VI Impact
BorgWarner fully supports the new BS-VI emission norm in India and, with our existing local testing and validation capabilities, are well positioned to help our Indian customers meet the new requirements with fast-to-market solutions. Therefore, possible changes will have little impact on BorgWarner as we supply efficient propulsion technologies for all types of vehicle. Until 2023, we expect our revenue to grow continuously: 73% CAGR for electric as well as hybrid vehicles technologies and 1% CAGR for the arear of combustion technologies.
