Bridgestone India Private Ltd., the country’s leading manufacturer of radial tyres, recently conducted an eye check-up camp & driver training at one of its key fleets Royal Translines Private Ltd., Navi Mumbai. This was an initiative aimed at spreading Bridgestone’s essence of ‘Serving Society with Superior Quality’ amongst its customers and fulfilling the company’s objective of making customers and drivers aware of safe driving practices. Poor vision may cause causalities, thereby creating life threatening conditions for drivers. Being stakeholders, their families are equally important for the company.
The camp was organized by Bridgestone India in association with Royal Translines. A team of doctors were invited from Vasan Eye Care for a period of two days, i.e., on May 17 and 18. The doctors rendered their services to drivers of Royal Translines on behalf of Bridgestone India Private Ltd. Various tests were conducted to detect vision deficiencies. More than 200 driver check-ups were conducted and free spectacles distributed to drivers with low vision. The drivers highly appreciated the activity as till now they had never been part of such social service.
Simultaneously, driver training was conducted by the Bridgestone staff. Drivers were trained on preventive tyre maintenance practices, the benefits of radial tyres, the importance of inflation, alignment, rotation & tips for improving the tyre life, and on lower CPKM. Drivers were trained on safe and easy methodology of mounting-demounting of tubeless tyres. The trained drivers will improve the fuel economy, lower servicing bills and reduce accidents.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Sanjay Potdar, Managing Director, Royal Translines Private Ltd., said: “It is an honor and privilege for us to be associated with an MNC like Bridgestone. We firmly believe Bridgestone is a company which undoubtedly stands for quality, which is reflected in its premium products. Its products speak not only of quality, but are also cost effective. Talking about the CSR initiative of Bridgestone, such activity has never been organized by any company for my staff. I would like to thank Bridgestone India for volunteering its services in setting up of the eye check-up camp and driver training. I appreciate and extend my support to Bridgestone for organizing such activities in future also. I am pleased with the services of Bridgestone and shall not mind in recommending Bridgestone tyres to my known fleets”.
Bridgestone India is planning to further enhance these activities to cover more fleets and more locations across India.
