The Coimbatore-based Bull Machines had announced its foray into construction equipment (CE) manufacturing with the launch of its first backhoe loader at Excon 2011. The company has come a long way ever since, putting together a range of backhoe machines, with customers not just across the country but also in overseas markets. At this year’s Excon, Bull launched a new compact skid loader and showcased special attachments, apart from displaying its 76 hp and 100 hp backhoe loaders.
Says Mr. R. Sathiamurthi, Senior General Manager – R&D, Bull Machines Pvt. Ltd.: “We have been participating in Excon from 2011 when we launched our first backhoe loader (60 hp). Since then we have improved our machines a lot based on customer feedback and went on to launch our 76 hp backhoe followed by the 100 hp model with Perkins engine which we are currently exporting to markets like Middle East, Africa and SAARC countries. We also have a 96 hp backhoe in BS-II and BS-III versions.”
The new compact skid loader launched by Bull at the show is the country’s first 4-wheel steer and 4-wheel drive compact loader. The vehicle, fitted with a Kubota engine, has been designed for use in narrow lanes and has a very low turning radius.
Apart from the machines, the company also highlighted the versatility of its products through a range of attachments. One of the attachments was a small concrete mixer that gives customers the advantage of moving around while mixing the concrete before unloading it wherever needed. Another attachment, a high dump bucket, enables the Bull loader to reach a height of 13 ft., which it claims to be the highest in the market, making it perfectly suitable for high body trucks.
Bull Machines produces around 100 vehicles a month at its facility in Coimbatore and has its dedicated R&D team working on new products that are in the development phase. All the hard work and efforts of the company’s founding team has given Bull the title of ‘the first home-grown construction equipment maker’ in India, which designs, develops and produces CEs in-house without any foreign collaboration.
“Bull is the first company in India to develop such products without any foreign collaboration. Our machines have been well received by customers and are accepted across the world. We have proved that Indians can achieve great heights and are very proud of what we have been able to do”, shares Mr. Sathiamurthi.
