Busworld Kortrijk once again proved why it is considered the largest fair for the bus industry globally, setting a new visitor record during the latest edition this year. Held from October 18 to 23 at Kortrijk, Belgium, the show attracted a record 32,228 visitors from different parts of the globe. The fair kept up its reputation as being one of the most important platforms for new launches both on the vehicle side and in the component space with a host of vehicle premieres and new technology unveils during the seven days, the additional day being the Media Day on October 17.
Global heavyweights, including Volvo, Daimler, MAN and Scania, among others, were present on their typical massive stands, attracting huge attention with a stunning display of diesel and electric vehicles, hybrids, engines, service solutions, etc. The other well-known bus and coach builders like Irizar, Iveco Bus, Solaris, Temsa, Van Hool, VDL and Yutong also had plenty of interesting new developments to share.
If not for the support of the component suppliers, it would be a far cry for the vehicle manufacturers to constantly upgrade their products in terms of quality, comfort, safety, technology, etc. Adding to the strong vehicle OEM presence, the component suppliers were out in full force as well at the show. Leading names from the global supplier fraternity in different product segments such as engines, transmissions, axles, exhaust systems, compressors, seating systems, electrical systems, flooring, HVAC systems and information systems as well as components and special equipment showcased a wide range of new and improved products and technology.
The focus on technology at the show was clear from the many innovative products that were unveiled, and with Euro VI taking the spotlight, both vehicle makers and major aggregate suppliers put out their range of Euro VI solutions. In addition, hybrids and electric vehicles and related technology were given equal importance, which was proof enough that diesel is no longer the single main source of vehicle power.
Overall, Busworld Kortrijk proved once again, similar to its previous editions, that it is ‘the’ show for the bus and coach industry across the globe and what was unveiled and showcased at the fair is the best the world’s best have got to offer.
