C.M. Smith & Sons targets 35% share from exports by FY21

In a casual chat with MOTORINDIA, Mr. Ashwin Smith, Managing Director, C.M. Smith & Sons Ltd., said: “We want to leverage the platform provided by an international exhibition like bauma to cater to the requirements of customers from all over the world. We are pleased with the enquiries we have received and are confident of bagging good business from the show.”

Mr. Smith believes that the construction industry and most of the companies working in the space require axles, engines and transmissions which in turn points to heavy requirement for castings. “Our USP remains strong in axle casting as we continue to work with international brands like Meritor, Dana, Carraro Drive Tech, etc., apart from many other parts from wheel hubs to brake drums and shackles to brackets, that make automation reliable and complete,” he added.

Inspired by a strong legacy and motivated by the vision to remain world-class by adhering to quality products and services, the company is eyeing strong growth in exports. The MD explained: “At present, exports contribute to 10 per cent of our sales, we plan to increase the share to 30 to 35 per cent by the end of FY20-21. On the domestic front, FY19 has been phenomenal in terms of growth and we look forward to continuing it with our superlative quality backed by our acclaimed high-pressure molding line. We are a single source supplier to many OEMs and have created a name for ourselves on the basis of our reliable products and competitive pricing.”
