The welfare programme was inaugurated by Mr. V. Ramanathan, Vice President of Shriram Transport Finance Co. Ltd. (STFC), the sponsor of the event, jointly with five drivers lighting the traditional lamp. Besides free medical check-up for the drivers present, a Rs. 2-lakh insurance cover was provided to their family members free of cost.

A training programme was conducted by Tata Motors on vehicle maintenance. Drivers were given training on the new products, besides knowledge on better maintenance of vehicles. Castrol Ltd. arranged a programme on safety awareness and presented a video and PPT on road safety.

Based on the Madhavaram success, CGTA will arrange similar programmes for drivers on a regular basis.
