CII EXCON is back to accelerate infrastructure creation in India

South Asia’s largest construction equipment show will be held in Bengaluru from May 17-22, 2022

The infrastructure sector is a key driver of the Indian economy. The sector is highly responsible for propelling India’s overall development and enjoys intense focus from the government for initiating policies that would ensure the time-bound creation of world-class infrastructure in the country. In this context, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s apex industry association, will be hosting the 11th edition of EXCON, South Asia’s largest construction equipment exhibition from May 17-21, 2022 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bengaluru.

The event will spread over 300,000 sq. metres of display area and is expected to attract over 1,000 exhibitors from India and abroad. This will include countries like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, the UAE, South Korea, Singapore, Turkey and Sri Lanka. The five-day exhibition would attract over 50,000 business visitors from all over the world. With its aim to position India as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing, EXCON acts as a platform for the construction equipment and components’ industry that brings together stakeholders to further deliberate and understand the latest developments in the industry.

“EXCON will reflect on the theme elements at the exhibition and also set the pace for the country’s move toward self-reliance in infrastructure development. With the presence of large OEMs and a strong supply chain supported by a vibrant components’ sector, India is all set to become the manufacturing and export hub of the world for construction equipment manufacturing,” said Deepak Shetty, Chairman, CII EXCON and Managing Director and CEO, JCB India Limited. EXCON will address both marketing and educational platforms for all stakeholders.

Government and senior bureaucrats consider EXCON as a knowledge platform for various departments such as those of public works and civil engineering, private contractors, builders, road and infrastructure developers, smart city and urban planning, army, border roads organisations, etc. to witness the latest technology, equipment and machinery which will enable accelerated infrastructure development needs of the nation. Leading construction equipment manufacturers at the exhibition will demonstrate the versatility of machines and sophistication in construction technologies.

More importantly, they will showcase cost-effective solutions for builders and contractors for speedy implementation of projects with a focus on quality, safety and environmental sustainability. EXCON will also celebrate women in infrastructure by introducing ‘Women Building India Equal Opportunity Awards’. The intent is to recognise those companies from the infrastructure sector who have taken proactive steps to enable women to participate in the workforce.
