In response to the recent entry into force of the European regulations UNECE R155 & R156, which require manufacturers to have a software update and management system (SUMS) for the electronic systems of their vehicles, Cojali launches a pioneer solution based on the development of a customised SUMS (Software Update Management System) platform that allows manufacturers to adapt smoothly to the new security and traceability requirements in order to minimise IT risks, strengthen cybersecurity, reduce incidents and ensure that updates are carried out securely.
Supporting manufacturers in the age of digitalisation
With the rapid advancement of digitalisation in the transport industry, the efficient management of software updates has become a key challenge. Cojali, with its SUMS platform, aims to provide a versatile tool that not only facilitates regulatory compliance, but also improves the operational efficiency of commercial vehicle, bus and trailer manufacturers.
Customisation, security and traceability in just one place
Cojali’s SUMS platform has been designed to be highly adaptable, allowing vehicle manufacturers to seamlessly integrate this system with their existing electronic architectures. The flexibility of the platform allows it to adjust to the specific and strategic needs of each manufacturer, regardless of the complexity of their vehicle configuration or control systems.
Centralised data management during manufacturing
Through this agnostic platform, the manufacturer can configure and identify each vehicle (VIN) during the manufacturing, and register all the electronic systems (ECU) incorporated regardless of the number of suppliers.
Bidirectional communication and record throughout the vehicle’s useful life
Once the vehicle is on the road, the SUMS platform becomes a key tool also for repair and maintenance workshops. Technicians shall use it to access vehicle data to modify the control units (ECU) and to leave a detailed record of the actions performed. In the same way, the vehicle manufacturer can notify improvements or firmware updates and configurations, which can be downloaded and applied to the vehicle through the same platform, ensuring the security and traceability of all interventions.
Innovation at the service of the manufacturer
In addition to the development of its own SUMS platform, Cojali offers a 360º solution that provides a big added value to all types of vehicle or component manufacturers. Among others, it is important to highlight the development of a customised diagnostics tool and end-of-line tests (Eol), the development of RMI (Repair and Maintenance Information) platforms in accordance with EU 2018/858 legislation and data analytics for constant product improvement (Big Data).
