NASSCOM Centre Of Excellence – IoT & AI in partnership with Telematics Wire organized the 5th edition of the biggest show of Connected Vehicles in India ‘Connected Vehicle 2020’ at Bengaluru. Connected Vehicle 2020 is a three-day conference from 3rd to 5th March 2020. More than 80 exhibitors, 10 connected vehicles are on display and over 1200 delegates from different sectors will be attending the show to hear and meet the 60 speakers during 10 different sessions.
Connected Vehicle 2020 is aimed at exploring the upcoming technology trends and disruptions that will affect the traditional vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, potential new players, regulators, consumers, markets, and the automotive value chain. The conference aims to make imminent changes more tangible.
Government policies mandating the adoption of AIS-140 devices providing vehicle location tracking capabilities and one or more emergency buttons in public transport vehicles are designed to enhance safety and security. As the ministry is also planning to make ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) a mandatory feature in the upcoming vehicles by early 2022, the time has come for the industry to step up and support the government to incorporate these technologies in the ITS infrastructure.
Sanjeev Malhotra, CEO, NASSCOM – CoE said “The enhanced use of connectivity and artificial intelligence has brought in a radical transformation with an enhanced and improved user interface. The new-age vehicles would provide unprecedented entertainment and information capabilities with high personal comfort and customization, from the interiors to auto adjustment of seat and user preferences. As the automotive community gears up for upcoming technology challenges, we need to keep in mind the importance of transforming the associated eco-system to meet the challenges. In this progressive scenario, tech players and start-ups play significant important roles in the development of these vehicle technologies”.
The future of the automotive industry is connected, autonomous, smart, shared & electric mobility. India is a fast-emerging market for connected vehicle business along with being the key development ground for vehicle telematics. Telematics-enabled mobility is the key to the implementation of an Intelligent Transportation System, which is expected to drive the future of connected transportation.
Maneesh Prasad, CEO, Telematics Wire said, “Connectivity is the next technology frontier in the auto industry that defines the communication between vehicles and infrastructure. The automotive ecosystem has been focused on innovation and technology which will be safer, convenient and environment-friendly”.
A paradigm shift to mobility as a service, along with the new entrants, will inevitably force traditional car manufacturers to compete on multiple fronts. Mobility providers, tech giants, and specialty OEMs increase the complexity of the competitive landscape. Traditional automotive players that are already under continuous pressure to reduce costs, improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and become more capital-efficient will feel the squeeze, likely leading to shifting market positions in the evolving automotive and mobility industries, potentially leading to consolidation or new forms of partnerships among incumbent players.
Vishal Bajpai, Co-Founder & CEO, Secure Things said, “In another game-changing development, software competence is increasingly becoming one of the most important differentiating factors for the industry, for various domain areas, including ADAS/active safety, connectivity, and infotainment.”
Industry experts from Maruti Suzuki, Daimler, Groupe PSA, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Ford Motor Company, Mahindra Electric, Volvo Group, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, Piaggio Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz, VE Commercial Vehicles, TVS Motor Company, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault-Nissan, Eicher Motors, and Royal Enfield, among others are some of the leading automobile manufacturers participating in the three-day conference and exhibition.
