Devendra Autocom, a Chennai-based MSME company engaged in the manufacture of auto components, has won a prestigious contract to supply fuel pumps, injectors, booster pumps and fuel lines to Engine Factory Avadi (EFA), Chennai, for the engines produced by it. These engines are the power trains for the tanks used by the Army, like T-72 and T-90.
Fuel pumps are the exclusive domain of giants like Bosch, Delphi, Denso, Continental VDO, Motorpal, Stanadyne, etc., globally. It is in this scenario that Devendra has managed to be an exclusive supplier of fuel pumps to EFA as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
The pumps, originally sourced from Russia, have now been localised saving a huge amount for the Defence Ministry. In fact, the Defence Minister, Ms. Nirmala Sitaraman, has acknowledged and applauded the efforts of Indian companies playing their successful part in the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Devendra Autocom was engaged in the manufacture of fuel injection parts for many years and was primarily an exporter of these parts. Earlier it was known as Devendra Exports Pvt. Ltd. as more than 70% of its produce was exported. But with a different strategy undertaken for growth momentum around three years ago, the domestic market was targeted, and now Devendra produces more than 70% for OEMs in India, including EFA. Hence the name change to Devendra Autocom.
Today the company manufactures and supplies various parts like feed pumps, injectors, water pumps, pulleys, piston cooling nozzles, pipes, etc., to customers like Ashok Leyland, Simpsons, SAME, etc., and continues to expand its OEM supplier base every year. Collaborations include technical tie-ups with Hartridge, a Delphi company, for the manufacture and distribution of test benches, VDO, for exclusive distribution of its common rail products in India, and with Turbo Technics, UK.
Devendra Autocom has a vision to excel in customer satisfaction and its ever growing clientele is ample evidence that it is on the right path.
