The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion and CII organized the India Pavilion at Automechanika Frankfurt, which has become a key destination for all global auto component manufacturers to interact with each other. This was done to promote closer co-operation and partnership between Indian and global companies, particularly the German Mittelstand companies.
Mr. Ramesh Abhishek, DIPP Secretary, spoke at a session on Make in India, attended by several German, Italian and other companies who are interested in investing in India. This inspirational programme is working on the task of facilitating manufacturing, through multiple changes and trying to understand the need of companies who want to invest in India.
He said DIPP and other Ministries are working closely with each other for optimizing infrastructure, administrative and policy measures that include, speeding up the ongoing work for developing industrial corridors, transport and energy infrastructure, ease of doing business and large projects. India has successfully re-engineered several policy measures, especially the GST that will be the game-changer for the manufacturing sector as well as enhancing ease of doing business.
The Consul General of India in Frankfurt, Mr. Raveesh Kumar, observed that 26 Mittlestand companies have already invested in India, and it is likely that the ongoing interactions will encourage more companies to look at India as a potential destination for investment.
Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, CII Director General, spoke on the vibrant and growing Indian economy and said that the GST which has recently been passed will facilitate businesses within India, as also the ease of doing business, reducing costs and making India a conducive partner.
