The Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), an initiative by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), has a new President in Dr. Saravanan who is currently the Head of Engineering at Ashok Leyland.
Dr. Saravanan is a seasoned automotive industry executive with over 20 years of experience, spanning from passenger vehicles to heavy commercial vehicles. He holds a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
After working for over a decade in USA at Ford Motor Company and Intel Corporation, he joined Ashok Leyland in 2005. After a two-year assignment in 2011, as CEO of Nissan Ashok Leyland Technologies Ltd., where he oversaw the development of LCVs of the JV, including the popular LCV DOST, he has taken over the responsibility as Head of Engineering of Ashok Leyland since 2013.
He has over 20 publications to his credit and guides many industry bodies in the areas of Safety and Regulations.
