Leading logistics players like Om Logistics comprise India’s $150 billion logistics industry. Unlike other sectors in the country, the logistics sector has traditionally been fragmented. However, with a promising projected CAGR of 10.5%, the sector is one of the fastest growing in the country. The 2022 Union budget’s push towards bringing digital transformation within the Indian logistics ecosystem through the Gati Shakti initiative is expected to bring sophistication to the industry and boost efficiency. The larger move towards the mass adoption of electric vehicles, is expected to help make sustainability a pillar of growth for the logistics sector as well. Against this backdrop, focusing on building robust and digitally powered modes of functioning across segments will be critical. Fruitful partnerships between automotive OEMs and logistics service providers, and particularly those that are symbiotic, can be an effective way of boosting the growth of the logistics industry as well as allied sectors.
