Dürr India geared up for 2020 and beyond

Dürr India, an expert in planning, engineering, sub-contracting, installation and commissioning of paint shops and final assembly systems, has made rapid inroads into the CV sector in the country. The Indian subsidiary of Dürr Germany, the company also offers cleaning, automation and balancing systems for the manufacture of engine, transmission and vehicle components.

Mr. Michael Berger, Managing Director, Dürr India, started off his interaction with MOTORINDIA by saying that he expects the company’s consistent growth rate to continue. With respect to the company targets for 2020 and beyond, he stated: “The automotive industry is expected to grow at 10% CAGR. We aim to grow with the market and increase our market share in all spheres of the automotive business, right from passenger cars to commercial vehicles and building machinery. The company also plans to maintain a leadership role in new equipment, technology and services.”

Speaking about the roadmap chartered out by the company to achieve its goals for 2020, he said: “Our strategy is to improve our service and customer excellence. Our investment in extended service infrastructure like warehousing for spare parts and more service offices close to automotive hubs is a big advantage. We set up a training center in Chennai in 2015 and an antenna in Ahmedabad recently. Our Delhi hub, which is well within the reach of customers, will also be an important step in our roadmap to achieve our goals. We also plan to address the special needs of the Indian market. All these steps will ensure our customers benefit from a continual increase of locally adapted solutions.”

Asked about the three key focus areas for Dürr India until 2020, Mr. Berger answered: “The main pillars of the automotive industry are the passenger car and commercial vehicle segments. We at Dürr India feel that we are well positioned, thanks to our advanced and sustainable technologies. We aim to set benchmarks using our digital@Dürr platform for our smart products and processes for connectivity in manufacturing plants, which will help us maintain our “Leading in Production Efficiency” advantage.”

Mr. Berger further observed that general industry is also one of the company’s key areas: “Indian investments in railway, aircraft, and alternative energies will bring us further business potential for our paint equipment and industrial products with respect to all kinds of applications. We have already implemented several railway painting projects in Russia. Moreover, the rising demand for clean technology systems makes it a key area for our growth strategy in India.”

He also said that he sees huge potential in the Indian market. The ‘Make in India’ campaign will positively give a big boost to the export market.

Mr. Berger concluded the interaction by stating that he looks forward to being a part of a recovering and booming India.
