Eaton’s Vehicle Group accent on sustainable future

Eaton’s Vehicle Group, part of Eaton Corporation, specializes in automotive and commercial vehicle products that reduce fuel consumption and improve the overall efficiency and performance of a vehicle. The company entered the Indian market in 1999 and has grown consistently over the last two decades. Today India is the most important growth market for the company in the Asia Pacific region.

Discussing the company journey so far and its growth strategy, Mr. V. Balasubramanian, Managing Director, Eaton’s Vehicle Group, India, said: “We are the partner of choice for leading passenger and commercial vehicle OEMs in India and we will continue to help them by offering the latest technologies to increase fuel efficiency and improve the overall performance, efficiency and control of the vehicle in a sustained manner.”

Outlining the company goals for 2020 he observed: “From a product and technology standpoint, we plan to introduce our highly efficient Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) for medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segments in India. Since the trucking industry in the country is moving towards high power engines, we plan to leverage our global expertise to offer customized solutions for the Indian HCV market. We also plan to expand our advanced valvetrain portfolio with cylinder deactivation (CDA) and variable valve lift (VVL) technologies aimed at fuel emission improvement and Euro 6 emission controls. We also plan to introduce superchargers for small gasoline engines as well as torque management and fuel emission control valves in the near future.”

Commenting on the current business scenario and the company’s roadmap to achieve its goals for 2020, Mr. Balasubramanian said: “As the industry leader in power management, we are ideally positioned to partner with various organizations to promote innovative and energy-efficient technologies for a sustainable future. Our strategy involves establishing an early engagement with customers for new programs and platforms for M&HCV and passenger car segments and offer of optimized solutions by leveraging our global technical expertise and local manufacturing footprint. Our technologies cater to applications in our focus markets globally, which helps us sustain through cyclical markets.”

Eaton’s focus has always been on offering innovative vehicle solutions that cater best to regional markets and strengthening its local manufacturing and service footprint to ensure superior value to customers. The company emphasizes complete localization of its products, including testing and sourcing, while it is also working on setting new benchmarks in terms of manufacturing and supply chain excellence and leveraging the Indian supplier base for export to global Eaton locations.

Mr. Balasubramanian also listed out the company’s key focus areas until 2020 by stating: “We continue to focus on addressing the end market needs and offer tailor-made solutions for demanding Indian applications. We are committed to environmental sustainability and are working on developing products that increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.”

Speaking about the direction Eaton will be headed in, he added: “We are a relationships-driven company.
