Ever since taking over the bus AC business from Carrier Corp. (USA) in June 2010, the Indian subsidiary of the Eberspaecher Group, Eberspaecher Suetrak Bus Climate Control Systems India Pvt. Ltd. has been growing at a healthy rate over the past four years. The company did endure a challenging year of business in 2013, but the slowdown in the country’s bus market has not cast any doubts on its plans for the long term.
The company had doubled its turnover in a span of two years, from 2010 to 2012, and despite a flat 2013, the current year offers interesting business prospects for Eberspaecher. Says Mr. K.P. Singh, Director, Eberspaecher Suetrak India: “Eberspaecher is known worldwide for its high standards of quality and reliability, and we are taking the 150-year-old legacy forward in the Indian market. Our continuous focus is on product localization in order to be able to provide our customers with solutions of global standard at competitive cost, without compromising on the product quality.”
Ever since the start of 2014 and perhaps even earlier, all eyes have been on the election results in the country as the automotive industry waits with hope for a revival in fortunes, driven by forward-looking policies and schemes. For the bus segment, the second round of JnNurm is the focal point as it is expected to pave the way for sale of a good number of new buses.
“2014 has started on a good note for us and we foresee a double-digit growth this year. The extension of the JnNurm scheme will certainly help the industry with as many as 20,000 new buses to be added to the market, out of which 10 per cent are expected to be air-conditioned. We are well positioned to cater to this demand with our lower life-cycle cost products as well as strong aftersales network. These two aspects will be the major differentiating factor between us and competition,” adds Mr. Singh.
Eberspaecher is coming up with new products for the Indian market, suitable for both large and midi buses. The company is further enhancing its engineering capabilities to support growth and in the past one year has commenced supplies to markets outside India wherein it sees huge opportunities in the coming years.
