TrendingNow – Using the natural refrigerant R 744 – carbon dioxide (CO2) on its AC platform was the eye-catcher. Meant specifically for city buses and tourist coaches, these vehicles are designed to run on the existing refrigerants and also are ready to use the alternative CO2 in the times to come.
Mr. Rainer Kolodzie, Director – Sales & Marketing, Eberspaecher Suetrak GmbH, shared: “CO2 is a safer alternative to the chemicals R134a and R1234yf. CO2 indicates a global warming potential of 1 as against the one being currently used which has manifold times of greenhouse effect.”
GlobalFirst – Another new platform on the block is AC403E which is an electrically powered compressor of the roof-mounted air-conditioning system to cool the driver’s seat in city buses and tourist coaches.
Mr. Kolodzie said: “Our message is that CO2 is one refrigerant used for bus climate systems showing a sustainable solution in line with nature to create long running, intelligent and environmental-friendly thermal systems.”
IndiaCentric – Eberspaecher is waiting for the Indian market to ‘get ready’ for products using CO2 refrigerants and ‘then we will make it available’, he added.
WhatWorks – Now there is special focus on automotive compressor due to high system pressure up to 150 bar, as well as the need for manufacturing steel pipes among other components resisting the high pressure.
Mr. Kolodzie shared: “In the automotive segment CO2 ACs are already available in series production.” The future will see the CO2-run products installed on the full automotive scale, including bus.
