The new initiative aimed at bringing customers closer
Eicher Motors recently opened its first company-operated dealership in the South known as ‘Coco’, in Chennai.
Addressing the inaugural function, Mr. P. Ravishankar, Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Aftermarket, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), said that the setting up of the first company-operated outlet in Chennai which is known as the ‘Detroit of India’ marked a milestone in the company history. It was in 2008 that Volvo, Europe’s largest truck company, established a joint venture, VECV, mainly for production of heavy duty vehicles. Today the company has been able to forge ahead with a growing marketshare in the overall commercial vehicle segment. Eicher has also the distinction of being the first company to set up its bus body assembly plant with full automation facilities at Indore in Madhya Pradesh. Today Eicher vehicles are exported to different regions, including the Middle East, South Africa, Ghana, etc.
Since fuel accounts for 50 per cent of the overall cost of operation of commercial vehicles, Eicher has developed the Pro Series range that offers 7.5 per cent better mileage than its competitors. The Pro series also comes with powerful engine and transmission. The company has also set up a world class engine facility at Pithampur, wherefrom engines are exported back to Volvo Europe.
Mr. Ravishankar also outlined the different features incorporated in the Pro series range of vehicles which has now emerged a game changer in the Indian commercial vehicle arena. Since the Eicher commercial vehicle offer more profit to its customers, it is considered the profitability champion.
Mr. Hemant Malhotra, Vice President – Retail, VECV, in his address, said, that with the opening of the company-operated dealership, Eicher will strive to further build its customer relations and come closer to them.
Mr. J. Mahesh, Retail Business Head – Chennai, VECV, made a detailed presentation on Eicher’s new initiatives, including the ‘Coco’ concept which is gaining momentum of late.
Mr. P. Ramesh, Regional Service Manager, VECV, highlighted the company focus on aftermarket activities.
The inaugural function, which was largely attended by Eicher dealers, financiers and fleet operators, also witnessed the handing over of keys to different fleet operators.
