Elofic Industries targets ambitious Rs. 500-crore turnover by 2017

Elofic Industries Ltd., started in 1951 by M.S. Sahni, is one of the leading brands in India for its filters. The company manufactures Elofic-pic-1filters for all vehicle categories like passenger cars, tractors and commercial vehicles in its five state-of-the-art production units, covering a total area of 52,000 sq.m. Three at Faridabad near New Delhi, fourth at Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh and fifth at Hosur near Bangalore.

Evolution means different things to different people. For Elofic it has always meant growth in its customer satisfaction index. Through its products and unremitting services to its customers, the company has striven to develop unique business models based on a futuristic approach to business.

Elofic-pic-3Having produced just 100 filters per day initially, the company, after six decades, now produces more than 63 million units annually with the support of its 500-strong workforce. Elofic’s range of oil, air, fuel and hydraulic filters have gained worldwide acceptance among various OEMs and aftermarket customers. The company filters find application in different segments like automobiles, agriculture, industrial, small engines, two-wheelers, earthmoving, marine, auto air-conditioning, industrial heating and in petrochemical industries.

Mr. Pawan Sharma, Vice President, Domestic Business, Elofic Industries Ltd., told MOTORINDIA in an interview: “With a strong Elofic-Pawannetwork of 1,000 distributors and 30,000 dealers, Elofic’s products have been performing very well within and outside the country. We have recorded a turnover of Rs. 200 crores in 2012-13 and aim to achieve Rs. 500 crores by 2017. The company’s exports contribute to more than 30 per cent of its overall sales turnover. For the last three years we have been specially focusing on the CV industry for which the market share has been steadily increasing. OEMs and aftermarket contribute 30 and 40 per cent respectively to our total sales. We also supply OEM co-branded filters directly from our warehouse to the service centres of Mahindra dealers. Elofic has been bringing in a lot of new technologies in its filter segment. We also have plans to go into different segments of filtration besides automotive.”

Referring to the growing company clientele, he said: “Elofic has a broad, impressive and ever-expanding customer base with industry leaders like Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, M&M, Eicher, HM and GM in India and Kohler Engines, Briggs & Stratton, Kawasaki, Lombardhini, etc., as its overseas customers. The company has a warehouse in Milwaukee, near Chicago, to serve its international customers. It has also plans to put up its sixth unit in Gujarat and launch products for the construction industry as an additional segment in early 2014”.

Elofic-pic-2Elofic believes that filters and lubricants go hand in hand. Understanding the filtration products so well, lubricants is a natural extension. The company has its own oil blending and grease manufacturing unit in Faridabad equipped with a world class R&D centre to offer complete engine protection solutions for its customers. Across all manufacturing stages critical in-process checks like 100 per cent leak testing are carried out.

Driving on its technical capabilities and an established network, the company has introduced its range of lubricants, including top-of-the-line engine oils, gear oils, lithium base AP3 grease, ready-to-use and concentrated automotive coolant and silicon liquid gaskets.

The quality of the finished products is checked in the laboratory accredited by international agencies. The company has latest software platforms like PRO E and MDT2 for producing cost-effective designs and world class filters.
