prospects
Brakes India Ltd., established in
1962, is the leading manufacturer of
automotive braking systems and fer-
rous castings in India. The company
pays particular attention to custom-
ers, quality products, processes and
services and benchmarks against
global quality standards, while con-
stantly striving to improve produc-
tivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety
and morale. Brakes India is one of
the first few companies in India to be
certified for ISO 9002 for the Foun-
dry Division in 1992 and ISO 9001
for the Brake Division in 1993.
Speaking exclusively to Mo-
torindia, Mr S. Viji, Managing
Director and Mr Badri Vijayara-
ghavan, Executive Director - Busi-
ness Development, highlight the re-
cent developments at the company.
With business growing steadily at a
healthy rate, the company is expect-
ed to achieve a combined turnover
of over Rs. 3,000 crores in the year
2011-12 for the brake and foundry
businesses. However, this year, con-
sidering the slow down across dif-
ferent vehicle segments, Brakes In-
dia is likely to grow at a lower rate.
Segment-wise growth
The company is gearing up for a
challenging year in the medium and
heavy commercial vehicle segments
compared to the last few years
which saw these segments grow at
a robust rate of 25%. A similar sce-
nario is likely in the tractor segment
which is expected to grow at only
component zone
