CII Meet on Automotive R&D Trends 2015

The Tamil Nadu Technology De-
velopment & Promotion Center of
CII is organizing the fourth edition
of the conference on “Automotive
R&D Trends 2015” in partnership
with AUSTRADE in Chennai on
February 27. With its theme “Au-
tomotive Sustainability – Mobil-
ity as a System”, the conference
will focus on technological ap-
proaches and systems to identify
the key to intelligent mobility.
The conference will be chaired
by Dr. V. Sumantran, Executive
Vice Chairman, Hinduja Automo-
tive Ltd. Prominent speakers from
industries with mobility technolo-
gies or willing to adapt mobility
concepts will throw some light on
automotive sector sustainability
factors.
The conference aims to discuss mobility-related is-
sues in India and work on a solution-based approach. Its
objectives are to connect key stakeholders from various
sectors to discuss transportation and mobility systems,
provide platform for knowledge and process sharing for
the automotive value chain, bring
in a systemic approach in innova-
tion and development of mobility
systems, ensure growth and sus-
tainability by identifying major
challenges for transportation sys-
tems, bring about technological
advancements for the growth of
the automotive sector, and to aid
development of effective policies
for government agencies.

A delegation of around 15 Aus-
tralian companies, led by Mr. John
Harry Conomos, President of the
Federal Chamber of Automotive
Industries, Australia, will be at-
tending the conference to explore
partnership opportunities in R&D
with their Indian counterparts.
The technical sessions would
cover topics like Efficient Com-
ponents & Systems for Automo-
tives; Advanced Driver Assist-
ance System (ADAS); Modern
Vehicle Controls - semi and full
autonomous vehicle control; and
Intelligent Vehicle & Road Sys-
tems, Transportation Manage-
ment Systems & Road and Traffic
safety technologies.
Some of the prominent repre-
sentatives of companies who have
already confirmed their participation include Mr. Ravi
Pandit, Chairman & Group CEO, KPIT Cummins In-
fosystems Ltd., Mr. Surinder Choudhari, Chairman &
Managing Director, Surin Automotive (P) Ltd., and Mr.
Sunil Kaul, President & COO, Behr India Ltd.
In addition, around 200 senior
management personnel from di-
verse industries from all over In-
dia and overseas are expected to
attend the conference.
