duction of 1.2 gm of CO

per litre of fuel.
The company has increased its
focus on research and development
over the years, as evident in the 25
per cent increase in investment on
R&D this year as compared to the
five per cent last year. Four new
factories have been set up in the last
two years, two in India, at Hard-
war and Ahmedabad. Three new
ones, including those in Mysore and
Bangalore, are also coming up. The
Mysore factory, for seals business,
will be operational by the first half
of 2012. The new facility in Ban-
galore, to be ready by the first half
of 2013, will be dedicated to the
lubrications division and is aimed
at bringing SKF and Lincoln under
one roof. There are 17 solutions fac-
tory of the company. A solutions
factory is the SKF way of bringing
the competence of what it has to
offer customers. It is a window to
SKF with its expert team available
at each solution factory to support
customers. The solution factory in
Pune is the company’s first in India.

cilities and research centres spread
across many countries, including
China, India, Taiwan, Indonesia and
Singapore.
Mr. Shishir Joshipura threw light
on SKF India’s progress, achieve-
ments and plans for the future. The
company has a country-wide reach
through its 350 authorised distribu-
tors, apart from a network of over
15,000 retailers who reach out to
small and remote regions. The
company has registered an annual
growth of over 15 per cent in the
last seven years. The automotive
segment accounts for almost 46 per
cent of the company sales. The in-
dustrial sector adds another 46 per
cent, with the remaining 8 per cent
coming from exports.
The key customers of SKF include
Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra
Ltd. and Bosch in the automotive
sector, which speaks for the quality
of their products. It is also a proud
supplier of the largest single bearing
in India, one with a diameter of 6½
metres. It has secured the American
Railroad approval to serve the glo-
bal market with railway seals, which
it would begin with the Indian Rail-
ways.

India for the fifth consecutive year
by Dun & Bradstreet Rolta Corpo-
rate Award. With its ambitious tar-
gets and a robust growth strategy,
the company is sure to remain a mar-
ket leader in the bearings industry.
