ECT 2011 discusses emission
control challenges in detail
The Emission Controls Manufac-
turers Association (ECMA) organ-
ised the 4th International Conference
on “ECT 2011 – After Treatment
Technologies, 2013 & beyond” in
New Delhi on November 9 and 10.
With environmental issues now
firmly embedded into the politi-
cal mainstream, emission control
experts, along with the automotive
industry, face the challenge of pro-
ducing more efficient and green /
emission-friendly vehicles whilst at
the same time responding to the glo-
bal demand to meet stringent future
emission norms.
It was with this objective of un-
derstanding the magnitude of the
problem and working out a plausible
solution that the 4th International
Seminar on “ECT 2011” was held.
The delegates comprised manufac-
turers of emission control devices,
officials from Pollution Control
Boards and regulatory bodies, R&D
heads for oil and petroleum compa-
nies, professors from engineering
institutes and technocrats from the
vehicle industry.
The chief guest, Mr. N.R. Gokarn,
Jt. Secretary, briefed the gathering
on the initiatives being taken by the
Government to curb emissions. He
also launched the “ECT 2011 Tech-
events
nical
Presentations
Booklet” and inaugu-
rated the “ECT 2011
Exposition”
The technical expo-
sition with 19 stalls
proved a great venue
for networking. The
exhibitors showcased
their global technolo-
gies and confirmed the
positive response re-
ceived from OEMs as
well as participants.
The two-day con-
ference had world-re-
nowned speakers and
international experts
in
emission-related
technologies sharing
their vision, knowl-
edge and experiences for the future.
Dignitaries from the US and Eu-
rope shared their experiences and
best practices in the area of vehicu-
lar emission control, providing the
delegates an insight into how each
government is committed towards

Manufacturers of emission con-
trol components updated the
delegates on the new global
technologies that are now avail-
able and adopted in Europe and
the US for meeting tighter emis-
sion standards for all on-road
and off-road vehicles.
