TRAILER 2011,
a runaway success
TRAILER 2011, the International
Trade Fair for Trailers and Equip-
ment, held in Kortrijk, Belgium,
from November 25 to 29, attract-
ed a large number of participants
from the trailer industry and related
equipment manufacturers. The pres-
ence of commercial vehicle giants
like Mercedes, Volvo, Scania and
MAN was the major attraction of
the event. Other notable participants
were Carrier, Continental, DAF and
Kogel, among others.
Obviously, presentation of the
‘International Truck of the Year’
(ITOY) Award, for the very first
time in Belgium, was a notable fea-
ture of the event. The ITOY Award
was bagged by the Mercedes-Benz
Actros.
The awards ceremony took place
at the opening night of Trailer 2011,
which was largely attended and
which turned out to be an exciting
kick-off for a big networking event
together with exhibitors, VIPs and
numerous representatives of the
transport industry.
The huge attendance inspired the
exhibitors to come up with interest-
ing and innovative products. The
best of those, Humblet and Carros-
serie Matthijs, were presented the
Trailer Awards. Besides these win-
ners, the other exhibitors displayed
their products and services most
professionally.
The exhibition organizer Trans-
port en Logistiek Vlaanderen (TLV)
was simply taken by surprise by the
unexpectedly high number of exhib-
itors who enthusiastically displayed
their latest products. It was feared
earlier that the global slowdown
would adversely affect the number
of both exhibitors and trade visitors
expected at the show. But ultimately
the general response was the same
as in previous editions of the fair.
