Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has been presented the National Energy Conservation Award 2013 for its energy conservation efforts at its Zaheerabad automotive manufacturing facility. The plant has managed to reduce specific electricity consumption by 18 per cent and specific thermal energy consumption by 29.96 per cent during FY13. The plant has also won the first prize for the third consecutive year, which resulted in it achieving the Top Rank Prize in the Indian automobile manufacturing sector.
With this, M&M Zaheerabad plant has won the National Energy Conservation Award for the eighth time in a row.
The President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, presented the Award at a function in New Delhi to commemorate the National Energy Conservation Day celebrated on December 16. Present on the occasion was the Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge), Mr. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

The National Energy Conservation Awards instituted by the Union Ministry of Power recognize innovations and achievements for efficient utilization and conservation of energy in various sectors, including industries, buildings, aviation and municipalities, among others.
