Jaipur-based family-owned Ensol Group believes in predictable processes that eliminate people’s dependency but improve authorities’ accountability. It is this thought that has led to the growth of Ensol Multiclean Equipments (P) Ltd., finds out Rajesh Rajgor in an exclusive interaction with Managing Director Arun Sharma
Municipal solid waste management in India continues to be a major issue, not only due to environmental and aesthetic concerns, but also due to the enormous quantities of waste generated every day. Despite the fact that only 35% of the Indian population lives in cities (urban population statistics), this population generates a massive 62 million tonnes of municipal solid waste annually and these figures are increasing every day as the population grows. To compound matters, the total number of towns will increase from 7,936 in 2011 to roughly 10,167 in 2021.
According to a recent study by the Centre for Policy Research, there are 2,231 villages that are likely to be designated as new census towns for the upcoming census (CPR). Census towns are an anomaly that sprang to prominence during the 2011 census. They are settlements that are larger (at least 5,000 people) and denser (at least 400 people per square kilometre) than most villages, with at least three-fourths of their male population working outside of agriculture. Additionally, education, legislation and public awareness of health hazards have resulted in a shortage of relevant manpower, forcing maintenance authorities to automate their cleaning and maintenance programmes.
With the launch of the Government of India’s flagship programme, Swachh Bharat Mission, in 2014, those in governance have aimed to provide basic infrastructural and service delivery with respect to sanitation facilities to every family, including toilets, and to adopt scientific methods to collect, process and dispose of municipal solid waste. The mission emphasises the importance of quality and sustainability in service delivery, as well as the commitment of all stakeholders to effect visible change in society. Municipal authorities across India, primarily including metro cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur, have hence deployed several truck-mounted waste management special applications at their disposal such as bin lifters, garbage compactors, road sweepers, super suckers, etc.
New Machines for Smart Cities
Against this background, Jaipur-based Ensol Multiclean Equipments (P) Limited’s offerings in waste management, sanitation, disaster management and civic utility solutions have been path-breaking, pragmatic and reliable in tune with the changing times and needs. Ensol is a name that has been coined from the two words ‘environmental solutions’. The company has successfully delivered over 15,000 units across 1,000+ customers across India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. The company is known to deliver customised solid and liquid waste management equipment like sewer suction, combined jetting, super suckers, road sweepers, garbage tippers, containers, stationary compactor, garbage compactor, roll-on truck, bin lifter, dumper placer, garbage tipper, etc.
Leading by Example
Ensol Multiclean Equipments has been contributing to the cleaning space in India since 2002, bidding and manufacturing in accordance with the needs of the country’s civic bodies. Arun Sharma, Managing Director, says: “We have recently worked on India’s first hydrostatic road sweepers without any auxiliary engine. This innovative product deriving power for sweeping as well as suction from the prime engine of the truck is contrary to getting it from an auxiliary engine. As we emphasise on good quality of air in the environment, running two engines will just be polluting the air.”
The Ensol new generation suction sweeping road sweeper is primarily used for sweeping city roads, bridges, squares, airports and docks. The whole idea behind aiding municipal corporations with this automated equipment is that not only does it reduce the cost of waste management but also the operational costs. Arun adds: “As we mount these machines on reputed truck chassis, the contractor or fleet operator gets the vehicle under AMC from the OEMs. This gives peace of mind to the contractors and government agencies when it comes to the operational and maintenance cost of these machines.”
Machining for a Purpose
Municipal governments are also under pressure to cut costs because they are funded by the government. As a result, the manufacturer is constantly under pressure to adhere to the specifications specified while still quoting within the budget. Ensol Multiclean Equipments thus believes in producing machines that not only serve the purpose but also fit the budget that the municipalities have. The company that has for several years been hand-holding and training customers about the value they add with their products, has set high standards when it comes to selection of critical components such as the power take-off, vacuum pump and jetting pumps.
“We purchase them from world-renowned manufacturers and design them in accordance with the tender. The distinction we make is in the moving parts, tipping angles, hydraulic drives, mechanical drives, and so on. The selection of these parts contributes to the machine’s longevity. These tried-and-true brands and components never let you down. As a result, the civic body’s confidence grows and they purchase more if they see positive results,” Arun elaborates. He adds: “We have shot-blasting and paint booth at our factory located at the RIICO Industrial Area of Jaipur, Rajasthan. Our factory is spread across 20,000 sq. metres and is equipped with the most advanced manufacturing infrastructure and safety measures across five assembly lines.”
“We are using Panasonic machines for welding and buy quality hydraulics, pumps and machines from abroad. Apart from the in-house quality control team, all the machines are inspected and checked for quality by a third-party agency. Each and every product is tested and certified before delivering it to the client,” he adds. Today, the Ensol Group that began as a waste management engineering and manufacturing company has evolved into a multi-service group of companies with diverse interests ranging from project management, operation management, environment assessments, advisory and consulting services and wastewater treatment technologies.
“Our cutting-edge manufacturing facilities and customer service capabilities enable us to deliver incredible solutions for a wide range of applications in various sectors such as transportation, mining and construction, disaster management, and environmental solutions,” reveals Arun. Through its manufacturing, marketing, distribution and customer service capabilities, Ensol Multiclean Equipments has been innovating and adding new products and services to its portfolio in order to move up the value chain across various sectors, beginning from solutions for environmental, disaster management, industrial, transportation, civic utility and infrastructure. “Apart from Ensol Multiclean Equipment the group also has business interests in other growing segments such as line transportation solutions for specialised tippers and trailers through Ensol Industries Private Limited and mining and construction equipment under Ensol Infratech Private Limited which deals in world renowned brands like Tata Hitachi mining and construction machines,” Arun informs.
