In an effort towards integrating and mainstreaming road vehicle regulations and standards imperative for attaining safer roads and accident free mobility, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is organizing a lecture series on ‘Active & Passive Vehicular Safety Standards’.
Buoyed by the appreciation and acknowledgment received by SIAM for the 1st to 5th Environment Lecture Series held between August and October 2020, the prime objective of this Tri-Lecture Series commencing from November 27th, 2020 is to create requisite awareness and disseminate knowledge on Vehicle Safety Policies, Regulations and Standards, Global Experiences, Vehicle Safety Principles & Concept, Vehicle Features, Design & Technology, and the Stockholm Declaration 2020 for Road Safety for 2030.
The aforesaid lecture series is a part of a 20-lecture series announced by SIAM on World Environment Day 2020.
Sharing details about the series, Prashant K. Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM, said: “Vehicle safety is an urgent urgent health and development concern across the globe. In India, 4,37,396 road accidents were recorded in 2019, resulting in the death of 1,54,732 people and injuries to another 4,39,262, which is enormously high and needs urgent redressal. SIAM is committed towards ensuring safe social, environmental and sustainable mobility and towards this objective, it is hosting the vehicle safety lecture series to spread awareness and share best-practices to protect the environment and minimize road accidents.”
The opening lecture on ‘Safety Features of Buses and Commercial Vehicles’ will witness the presence of Industry Experts such as Ranjit Ballal, GM & Head – VATS Ops, P. Gowrishankar, GM & Head – Regulations and IB, Tata Motors, Neeraj Shaiv, General Manager, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd., D. Balakrishnan, General Manager, Ashok Leyland, and Ranjit Radhakrishnan, Vice President, Volvo Group India, and will be moderated by Ashim Sharma, Partner & Group Head – Business Performance Improvement Consulting, NRI Consulting & Solutions India.
