Under the brand name ‘PuriBus’, it will operate on the Pune to Mumbai and return route
Leading electric bus operator in the country, EveyTrans Private Limited, a MEIL Group company, has launched an intercity bus service under the brand name ‘PuriBus’ from Pune to Mumbai and vice versa. Operations were flagged off on October 15, the auspicious day of Dussehra. With the launch of EveyTrans, long-distance, zero-emission, noiseless and comfortable travel has become a reality. The initiative by the company has been on account of the fact that the Indian central and state governments are encouraging the adoption of electric buses in the public transport system under FAME I and FAME 2 policy initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Raizada, General Manager, EveyTrans, said, “We are proud and humbled to have been the first to launch an intercity e-bus service in India. PuriBus can cover up to 350 km on a single charge with zero-emission, making it a fine option for intercity travel operators and leading to savings in the long run.” The 12-metre long PuriBus has a seating capacity of 45+ driver + co-driver. The bus is aesthetically designed and offers utmost comfort to passengers. It has been designed for long-distance travel and has comfortable and luxurious pushback seats. The bus also has the latest TV and infotainment system along with Wi-Fi facility. Each seat has an in-built USB charger. The 5 cubic metre luggage space guarantees ample space.
This electric bus offers a significant financial benefit to the intercity bus operators due to its low maintenance and low running cost compared to a diesel bus. Olectra Greentech Limited in India manufactures these buses. The buses are powered by lithium-ion phosphate batteries. In addition, the bus has various safety features, including EU standard fire detection and suppression system with TUV certification, advanced driver assistance system and intelligent transportation system as per the Indian regulatory requirements. In a crisis, there is a panic alarm system and an emergency lighting system.
EveyTrans has been operating e-buses successfully within multiple cities like Surat, Silvassa, Goa, Hyderabad, Dehradun, etc. With the addition of the PuriBus to its portfolio, the company has once again proven its strong operational capabilities. EveyTrans is a 100% subsidiary of MEIL Holdings Limited. It is India’s largest electric bus operator and aggregator. It operates over 400 buses in various cities across the country. The company owns, leases out and operates electric buses for state transport undertakings (STUs) on a gross cost contract (GCC) basis. The company also develops charging stations on its own.
