The 9th edition of South Asia’s largest construction equipment event, EXCON 2017, being organized between December 12 and 16, is upholding the theme ‘Smart Technology Fueling the Next Gen Infra’. EXCON 2017 has attracted over 1000 exhibitors including participation from over 20 countries.
Inaugurating the prestigious event, Mr. Anant G Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises said, “We are happy to say that we have succeeded in forming Capital Goods policy for the first time. This will give a much needed fillip to the infrastructure and construction sector which is already witnessing an upsurge. The sector needs to adopt latest technology and I assure you that the central government is dedicated to offering 100 per cent support to all the stakeholders.”
In 2016-17, the construction sector (CE) grew by 32 per cent and is expected to grow to US$ 5 billion by FY 2019-20. The FDI received in the construction development sector from April 2000 to December 2016 stood at US $ 24.3 billion.
Going by aggressive participation from global and home-grown brands in the CE sector, the exhibition is already looking to be a success.
