Exedy Clutch India Pvt. Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of the Exedy Corporation of Japan, made a noteworthy presence at ACMA Automechanika New Delhi this year. The company showcased its clutch sets, clutch packs, clutch discs for all the segment of automobiles including commercial vehicles and tractors.
Speaking to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Vinay N, Assistant Manager, Sales Department, Administrative Head Quarter, Exedy Clutch India Pvt. Ltd., expressed: “We manufacture all types of clutches, for manual transmission vehicles, AMT, for two-wheelers, CVs and agricultural vehicles. We make approximately 6 lakh clutches annually of the size ranging from 160 dia to 310 dia. When we started in India, we had a JV partner and the company formed was known as Exedy India Ltd. that operates from two places, Aurangabad and Noida. In 2013 a 100 per cent-owned company of Exedy Corporation was started in Narasapura, Karnataka, under the name Exedy Clutch India Pvt. Ltd.”
The company’s Noida plant takes care of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicle clutches. When asked about the communication at the show, he informed: “We are expanding our two-wheeler business by supplying clutches and introducing new variants like slipper assistant clutch. In four wheelers, we are already there in the auto transmission vehicles by give torque converters in other countries. We also plan to expand these businesses in the coming years based on the requirements in India. In our CV business we currently cater to Isuzu, Volvo-Eicher and Tata Motors, while in the agricultural segment we are already with Mahindra & Mahindra.”
Exedy R&D facility is situated in Japan but the company is mulling over opening R&D centres in Thailand and India as the demand increases in these regions. “The ASEAN region along with India, Nepal and Bangladesh have immense potential and we expect the requirement for clutches to be huge from these regions going forward. We already have visitors from these countries enquiring about our products and wish to work with our clients giving them the best products as per their requirements,” said Mr. Vinay.
