Essar Steel India Ltd. has announced the appointment of Mr. Firdose A. Vandrevala as Executive Vice Chairman, effective August 12.
Mr. Vandrevala joins Essar Steel from HIRCO, a construction and real estate major, where he was the Chairman & Managing Director. He holds a B.Tech Honors degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and is a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
A recognized leader, Mr. Vandrevala was associated with the Tata Group for over three decades, where he held various leadership positions, the last being as Managing Director of Tata Power and Chairman of Tata Teleservices. He was the Deputy Managing Director of Tata Steel before moving to Tata Power. He played a significant role in the growth of Tata Steel. From the Tata Group, he joined Motorola India as its Chairman.
