The automobile spareparts trade in the country is reeling under heavy taxation, and unless the Government rationalises the taxation policy, the trade would find its going tough. Though levies are necessary, excessive taxation is certainly not the solution for lifting the sagging economy.
This view was expressed by Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Anand, President-elect of the Federation of All India Automobile Spare Parts Dealers’ Associations (FAIASPDA) at its 51st annual general meeting held in Mumbai on September 21.
He said that it would be his endeavour to exhort all the members of the Federation to strictly follow fair trade practices in order to avoid complaints from customers. After all, the most important aspect of the trade functioning is a customer-friendly approach. Of course, the spare parts trade has been doing its best to arrest the upward trend in the prices of products. Indeed by keeping prices under check, the trade has made a significant contribution which the customers won’t fail to appreciate. The spares trade is indeed a vital link between the manufacturers and the actual users of spares.
Paying rich tributes to eminent persons like Mr. P.K. Basu, the Founder President, and other stalwarts who headed it, Mr. Anand said that but for their promotional efforts the Federation won’t have attained its present status.
Similarly, BMMA, the parent association, has given eminent stalwarts like Mr. G.S. Sethi, Mr. Kuldip Singh Chadha, the late Prabhjot Singh Chopra, etc., who did their best in conducting its affairs in the larger interest of the trade and industry.
His predecessor, Mr. A.K. Bhartia, has, through his dynamic approach, had widened the range of the Federation activities and still continues his valuable guidance for the advancement of its objective.
The present committee members would be able to further safeguard the interests of the Federation only with the whole-hearted support and co-operation from its members, Mr. Anand added.
