Firestone Industrial opens SBU unit in Gurgaon to expand operations

Firestone Industrial Products Co. (FSIP), the world’s No.1 air spring manufacturer, is expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific market with the establishment of a strategic business unit (SBU) in Gurgaon.

“In the last two decades, Firestone Industrial Products has made significant contributions to the Asia-Pacific air springs market,” said Mr. Arun Kumar, Managing director, Firestone Industrial Products Asia. “Establishing an enhanced presence with the SBU is a testimony of our continued commitment to serve and strengthen these growing markets on a local level.”

Currently the SBU oversees the operation of two companies – Beijing Firestone, China, and Firestone TVS, an Indian joint venture since 2007. The SBU facilitates product distribution in Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, Philippines and Vietnam. The office also is home to the region’s sales, marketing, engineering, customer service and finance teams.

Mr. Kumar added: “India and China are two of the fastest-growing economies in the world, playing a dominant role in the Asian market. India’s strong banking, legal and corporate structure makes it an ideal home for our Asia-Pacific headquarters.”

Firestone Industrial Products entered the Asian and Indian air spring markets in 1990 and 1992 respectively. In 2006, the company established a branch office in Gurgaon, and in 2008 Firestone TVS began manufacturing air springs in Madurai. The following year, it opened a distribution center in Singapore.

Firestone Industrial Products specializes in air spring manufacturing and technology with a history of more than 75 years of research and development on technologically advanced air springs. Its famous Airide brand air springs has been an industry standard for air spring manufacturing and technology since 1939.

Operating from the the Gurgaon location are dedicated teams for sales, marketing, engineering, distribution, customer service and finance. “Establishing the Asia Strategic Business Unit in India is testimony to our company’s commitment to design and produce high quality products in the region and support customers through the local presence of all key support functions”, said Mr. Arun Kumar.
