A delegation of the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) under its National President, Mr. Pradeep Singal met Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport Highways & Shipping, on June 13 and discussed several issues of interest to road transport.
Barrier-free roads, toll tax removal, social security net for CV drivers, primary healthcare units at 150 transport centers all over India, suitable changes in the Carrier Act, 100 per cent tax exemption to driver seva kendras / driver training schools / transport logistics’ hubs and publishing of the monthly freight index by the Government were among the topics for discussion.
Mr. Gadkari assured the delegation that all hurdles hindering free movement of vehicles on highways would be resolved soon, and asked its national President to submit a detailed memorandum within 15 days to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
